Ingredients:

2 pounds ground beef

1 chopped large onion

6 chopped garlic cloves

1/3 cup chili powder

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin

1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil

1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes with juice

1 (4 ounce) can diced green chili peppers (be sure to drain out the juices)

1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce

1 (12 fluid ounce) beer

1 tablespoon white vinegar

3 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce

2 teaspoons salt

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Start by cooking the meat. In a large pan, cook the beef with the onions and garlic. Once the meat is cooked and the onions are translucent, drain all the grease. Next, add all the spices to the meat. Sprinkle the chili powder, cumin, and basil. Once the spices are well mixed into the meat, add in the liquids. Add the tomato sauce, beer, and vinegar along with the diced tomatoes and green chilies. Allow the mixture to boil, stirring occasionally. Add in the brown sugar, hot pepper sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir the chili, cover the pan, and let it simmer for about three hours, but be sure to remove the lid two and a half hours in. Allow the chili to cook lidless for the last thirty minutes.

Serve warm with your favorite bread and enjoy!
