Combat Your Stress This April

Combat Your Stress This April

Keep this advice in mind to help you deal with your stress.

It’s National Stress Awareness Month, a month that asks us to recognize the damaging effects of stress on our mental, emotional, and even physical health. In honor of this month, you should make a more conscious effort to deal with your stress. Not sure where to start? Here are some easy suggestions to help you combat your stress.

Make Time to Relax

Whether you like to exercise, read, watch television, etc., everyone has something that helps them de-stress. To keep your stress levels down, it’s important that you regularly set aside time to pursue relaxing activities. When you take the time to properly relax, you will find yourself recharged and better prepared for the high-pressure or stressful situations that might be waiting for you.

Talk It Out

When you bottle up your stress, it just builds up and becomes increasingly oppressive. Instead of letting stress push you to your breaking point, make a point to talk about the things that are stressing you out. Not only will talking through your stress leave you feeling lighter, but it can also put your problems into perspective and make them seem more manageable.

Learn to Say “No”

Oftentimes, people manufacture their own stress by taking on more responsibilities than they can realistically manage. While there’s nothing wrong with challenging yourself, there’s a difference between pushing your limits and ignoring them. You should learn to respect your limits and practice saying “no” to the projects that will push you past what you can realistically accomplish. By cutting out this unnecessary stress, you will feel more in control and better equipped to handle the responsibilities that you do agree to.
