Make New Year’s resolutions for a year of good health!
Start off the new year with healthy habits by making healthy resolutions for 2016! If you’re in need of a little inspiration, here are a few ideas to get you started.
Sleep.
Resolve to get more sleep in the new year! Far too many of us are sleep deprived, which hurts our health. Lack of sleep leads to heart disease, diabetes, foggy memory, and increases your risk of depression. Get a full eight hours of sleep in the new year to be well-rested and keep your body healthy!
Sit less.
Sitting is bad for you, yet most of our day consists of sitting. Sitting adds extra stress to your back and sedentary habits lead to serious health diseases. You don’t have to make a resolution to exercise more, just sit less! Invest in a standing desk, take a walk every hour or so, or take the stairs! Your body will thank you.
Cook more.
Have more control over your food. The more you cook, the better you eat. You know exactly what you’re consuming and can add as much or as little as you’d like to stay healthy.
Unplug.
Technology tends to monopolize our time. We work and play on computers, watch television, listen to music, and are usually glued to our phones. But all this technology is over-stimulating and can lead to increased risk of depression and anxiety. Learn to unplug in the new year! Set aside time to be device free and you can take a walk, read a book, spend time with loved ones. You’ll be glad you did.
Spend time with friends and family.
Too often we lose touch with people in our lives. Whether it’s an old friend or a long lost relative, reconnecting with people and socializing is good for your health. People who are more social are less stressed and tend to live longer!
