The Dos and Don’ts of Social Distancing You Should Follow

COVID-19 has become a public health emergency and pandemic. To combat the virus and minimize cross-infection, we are recommended to practice social distancing. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), social distancing means avoiding mass gatherings and maintaining at least 6 feet distance from others. You should strictly adhere to the guidelines of social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus.

Here are some dos and don’ts of social distancing:

Stay at Home

You should stay at home unless it is an emergency.

Visit the Stores at Non-Peak Hours

Buy essentials like groceries, provisions, and medicines at non-peak hours. This will help you avoid crowded places.

Cancel Non-Essential Appointments

Visit your doctor or healthcare provider only for an emergency and consider rescheduling routine and non-emergency procedures. Make sure to contact your doctor to check on the availability.

Go Digital

You can buy groceries and certain medications online. You can schedule a telehealth visit with your provider to discuss your health condition and get the required care. Also, you can stay connected with your friends and family through video calls on your phone.

Avoid Certain Physical Contacts

You should avoid shaking hands and giving high-fives or hugs. Doing these can increase the risk of cross-infection.

Don’t Go to Crowded Places

Avoid visiting gyms, restaurants, dance halls, basketball courts, parks, gardens, and other crowded places.

Don’t Allow Visitors to Your Home

Besides staying away from people, you should also limit your exposure to non-family members and other people. Restrict visitors to your home.

Avoid Exercise at Crowded Places

Exercise is good for your health and keeps you relaxed. However, make sure to do exercise at your home and by maintaining the appropriate distance from others.
