Try Out These Hacks to Make Your Car Safer

Try out these clever solutions to improve the safety of your car.

As a car owner, you are probably always looking for ways to make car maintenance and organization a little easier.  This is why you should try out these car hacks that will make taking care of your car easier and help you stay safe.

  • Use Toothpaste on Foggy Headlights

If your headlights are cloudy and dull, then this can lead to some serious visibility issues when driving.  However, you can use regular toothpaste to restore your lights and get them shining brightly.  All you have to do is apply a small amount of toothpaste onto a rag and use it to buff your headlights.  Allow the paste to sit for 10 minutes, and then use a wet cloth to wipe it away.

  • Use a Penny to Inspect Your Tire Tread

When your car’s tires get too worn down, they struggle to retain traction on the road and increase your chances of skidding.  However, many car owners have trouble determining when they should replace their tires.  A great way to check is by inserting a penny into your tire tread with Lincoln’s head first.  If his forehead is covered, then your tires are still good.  However, if the tread is so low that Lincoln’s entire head is exposed, then it’s time for a tire replacement.

  • Use Nail Polish on Minor Window Cracks

If you get a nick or small crack in your car’s windshield, then leaving it unattended to could be dangerous.  If you do not have time to get it repaired immediately, then you can make a temporary repair using clear nail polish.  To do this, clean your windshield thoroughly before filling the crack and the area immediately around it with clear acrylic nail polish.  This quick fix should hold until you are able to schedule an appointment at a repair center.
