What Water Backup Could Mean for your Home

Having water back up into your home could be devastating. It can quickly damage flooring, carpet, drywall, and furnishings. Getting it corrected is a two-fold issue. You have to find and correct the source of the water problem, and then you have to take care of all the damage the water caused. One of the best ways to do those things from a financial standpoint is to have the right insurance.

Water backup coverage can and should be part of your homeowners insurance policy. It’s important to have protection for water and sewer pipes, in case they break or back up into your home. That can be very messy and can cost a lot to correct. The more coverage you have for things like that, the better off you’ll be. Of course, you’ll also want to have flood insurance. That will protect you from the damage caused by water coming into your home if your area experiences a flood. This is not included in your standard insurance policy and may be required if you live in a flood hazard area.
